Getting Started
So, here we are then. I have no idea how many people will bother to join, let alone how many will actively participate. I must admit to being something of a novice, and thus, while my pot runneth over with tidbits, ideas, preferences, and just plain blather, I am not a sage (which, sadly, I am never mistaken for--it would be nice to mistaken for a sage, once in a while).
To get things started (when/if they
do get started) I'd like to start by exploring ways (and then actually following through--I convulse at grand ideas and good intentions left to fly on the wind) to generate awareness of
http://www.buyblue.org/. When it comes to progressive politics in America today I think that one cannot help to be, and ought to be, continuously aware that at some point it does all get down to who has the money and, on a sadly related note, who has the power. This being the case, campaign finance and electoral reform are two of my core issues. A close third is the need for Americans to back up their vote and voice their conscience using their almight bucks, in an effort to make it (the buck) stop right, well, somewhere, and preferrably not right back in the pockets of corporations and the wealthiest 1%. BuyBlue provides an exccellent service to those who are tired of voting their hearts while buying the candidates they hate into office. (It's worth noting that this applies for members of all political persuasions--the site could, theoretically, be used by a dyed-in-the-wool neocon to support those companies that are heavy contributors to conservative campaigns and causes).
